Good Hair – Official Trailer

Chris Rock examines the fascination with “good hair” within black culture in this comedic documentary due out in October, interviewing celebrities and the people who work in the black hair and beauty salon industry (an industry estimated to generate 9 BILLION dollars a year in revenue).
I won’t talk bad about any adult female (or male) who prefers to straighten their hair rather than wear it natural, but seeing that one shot of a little girl getting her hair relaxed didn’t sit right with me at all. That stuff will burn a whole in your scalp if you fuck it up. As for weaves, getting past how expensive a really good one is, it apparently makes sexy-time a logistical nightmare!

I’m glad that Chris Rock made this documentary. I hope this bring about a return to natural hair. I miss the 90′s when locks and mini afros were returning to vogue. Personally, I can’t stand weaves and perms, and few things make a black woman sexier than twists, afros, frizzy, or (woot!) locks! Apparently, those days are looong gone. As long as TV makes natural nappy hair unpopular, we’ll not likely see that return.
Admittedly, my views and tastes in what’s sexy is a little out of style these days.

Like I said, I don’t down any woman who relaxes their hair, but I definitely prefer more natural styles on black women. And if you can rock it bald like Badu used to (or Amber Rose :P), more power to ya!
