ryanreynoldsdapperUPDATE: Ryan Reynolds has been cast as Green Lantern according to Aint it Cool News. This puts Fox’s Deadpool on hold, and we’d agree that this is a very solid choice.

Three names are still in the running to play Green Lantern in the new Warner Bros. feature, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Screen tests for Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), Ryan Reynolds (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), and Justin Timberlake (D*ck in a Box and other awesome Saturday Night Live guest spots) are currently being reviewed. Who knew Hal Jordan was such a fun-loving guy?

The movie, to be directed by Martin Campbell, is scheduled for release in December 2010.

You’d think they were going with Kyle Rayner GL based on these choices. None of them really fit the Hal Jordan mold. All these guys skew a little too much on the young punk side. Plus, I don’t want anything to keep Reynolds from Deadpool! If he’s not bullshitting the fans, maybe the spin-off movie will in fact be closer to the Wade Wilson we know and love.
