EA Chicago Developing A Marvel Title

Posted by: Howard Brown on July 27, 2007 at 11:38 am

Noted development studio, EA Chicago has announced that they’re at the helm of a new Marvel SuperHero fighting game. Most well known for revolutionizing boxing control and realism in Fight Night Round 3 and more recently for creating a strikingly beautiful fighter with Def Jam Icon, the studio is known for taking huge risks when creating new titles and they specialize in the fighting genre. While we previously knew from someone inside EA Chicago that the studio has been readying an unannounced title for release in Spring 08 and yet another title to release later in 2008; today’s announcement that the Marvel title will release in that year unwraps the mystery behind one of those titles.

“We looked at past comic-based games to find out what was missing and what was needed to successfully translate the intensity, excitement and fiction from comics into fighting games,” said Kudo Tsunoda, General Manager and Vice President, EA Chicago. “We’re challenging ourselves to make a game that delivers on the Super Hero promises of past top-tier fighting games.”

“Featuring a great all-star line-up of Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains with incredible powers that are authentic to the fiction, huge environments and a living world that keeps the gameplay fresh, every battle will be unique; every battle will be like a first edition,” added Tsunoda.

We’ll have more information on EA Chicago’s Marvel title soon.
