Dabel Bros to adapt Buckell’s ‘Rain’

Posted by: Rich Watson on October 13, 2006 at 9:28 pm

Tobias Buckell is a Caribbean sci-fi writer who has made a splash with his debut fantasy novel Crystal Rain, about a world influenced and shaped by an Afro-Caribbean culture. Buckell recently announced on his blog that Dabel Bros. will publish a graphic novel adaptation of his novel.

Thanks to my pal Pam Noles for the story.

Hi. I read the novel “Crystal Rain” and it’s a blast. The book takes place on the world of Naganda, which has been settled by a mixture of folks from the Caribbean and Mexico. The hero of the book is black man named John deBrun who has amnesia.

I’ve exchanged e-mails with Tobias Allen a few times. He’s really cool. Allen is biracial–his dad is black (mixed) and mom is white. Allen mentioned that he is dedicated to writing books targeted for black and multiracial male audiences.

Rich, you should definitely interview him.
