CONTEST! Win a copy of the GN ‘Still I Rise’

Posted by: Rich Watson on February 15, 2009 at 12:26 pm

I don’t think I’ve ever done a contest in all the years I’ve had this blog. So consider this a first. Sterling Publishing has provided me with a brand new copy of the re-released graphic novel Still I Rise: A Graphic History of African Americans by Roland & Taneshia Laird and Elihu Bey to give away. I’ve mentioned this book before; this is a new printing with new material, updated to include Barack Obama, Hurricane Katrina, and other stuff. This book makes for a wonderful way to get your kids to learn about American history; it’s informative, thoroughly researched, and entertaining as well. So if you wanna win a copy, here’s what you have to do:

I’ve scanned three images from the book of figures from black history. Based on Elihu Bey’s drawings, including the style of clothes, backgrounds, and likenesses, as well as what they’re saying, can you identify these people? Whoever gets all three right wins the book. rise22rise3
