Comics for June 27 and news

By: Rich Watson

Black Panther #28
Amazon link to buy Marvel Zombies HC
Amazon link to buy Walking Dead HC V1 which, as far as I’m concerned, is the ONLY zombie comic worth reading

I must confess I don’t understand why Marvel Zombies are as popular as they are. Still, the Panther and the rest of the Fantastic Four will find out firsthand in this issue, which kicks off a new arc. Written by Reggie Hudlin.

Also this week:
Amazons Attack #3 (of 6). Pencils by Pete Woods.
Fantastic Four #547. Written by Dwayne McDuffie.
Code #1, Genesis 5 #1, Joe & Max #1. All offered again.
Grimm Fairy Tales: Return to Wonderland #1 (of 7). Written by Raven Gregory.

Okay, kids, listen up: Previews comes out this week, and in Previews you will find the solicitation for the next issue of UVC. This is why there’s no June-July issue this month - we’ve had to reschedule in order to make the catalog as soon as possible. As a result, you won’t see our ECBACC coverage until September and you won’t see our San Diego coverage until November, but what can you do…

Anyway, the biggest change of all is that we’ve finally put a price tag on the mag, and the price will be… wait for it…

$2.99.

I honestly didn’t think we could start out at that price, but our Diamond rep thought it was an appropriate price, and I have no doubt you’ll agree, considering how much you’ll get. So put back that extra X-Men comic you’ve been complaining about for the past year anyway (you know it’s true) and you’ll have enough to continue to read UVC.

Next issue’s gonna be real good. We’ve got interviews with the Dabel Brothers, John Ridley, a terrific piece about an animator named Terrence Walker who does the work of an entire studio, we’ve got the first in a series of articles for aspiring creators about how to legally protect your work, plus the usual news, reviews, cartoons, Brandon Easton’s column, and more.

Now obviously, this is a huge step for us. But we need your help to make sure UVC reaches everyone. Tell your retailer about us. If you’ve got a back issue, bring it to the shop with you and show it to him or her so they can see what they’re getting. Ron and I are available to answer any questions the retailers have regarding the mag. I can be reached through here, Ron through the website. I’ll be in San Diego next month and I suspect I’ll have more than a few conversations with retailers while I’m out there.

In other news: Mama’s Boyz creator Jerry Craft gets honored in Washington DC.

Does World War Hulk spell the end for Heroes for Hire?

Dwayne McDuffie talks JLofA and Fantastic Four.
