News from Heroes Con and Wizard World Philly: You know already about Dwayne McDuffie taking over JLofA… Marvel announced a new House of M mini-series starring Luke Cage and an Avengers team unlike any you’ve seen before in that they all have their 70’s looks (because it’s, y’know, set in the 70’s). It’ll come out in November… The Denys Cowan-illustrated Question series will get a trade paperback this fall… DC executive editor Dan Didio said Firestorm was going to join a team soon… Triathalon will join the cast of Avengers: The Initiative soon, but the future does not look bright for Gauntlet… DC veep Bob Wayne said there was no truth to the rumor that Welcome to Tranquility was getting cancelled.
The verdict on Tim Story’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer: $57.4 million on opening weekend despite horrible reviews. It’s reached the point where I’m not even sure if I wanna see this… In a tangential story, it appears Jessica Alba is greatly at odds with her Latina heritage.
At ECBACC there was a premiere of an animated film called The Adventures of Teddy P. Brains. It’s basically a science whiz kid and his faithful sidekick learning about stuff as they fly around in a spaceship. I saw it – it’s definitely one that’s strictly for the kiddies, if you know what I mean, but the computer animation is pleasant and the emphasis is on learning as something that’s fun to do, so hopefully the guys who made this will go somewhere with it.
