No, I haven’t forgotten what month this is… but to be honest, there are so many other sites that can cover Black History Month better and more comprehensively than I can. I only have so many hours in a day to go online, much less post on this blog. While I will definitely link to a BHM-related piece if it’s comics-related, I’m gonna just point you to this link and let you take it from there.
Lotta news today: first off, here’s a new Dwayne McDuffie interview about Fantastic Four.
The Davis Bros and Brandon Schultz talk Blokhedz.
Comic strip legend Morrie Turner is doing fine. This interview talks about how his recent health problems haven’t kept him from continuing Wee Pals.
Aaron McGruder gives a university lecture and reveals that we may see a Boondocks movie.
Here’s a new Guardian Line article.
The latest “offensive” political cartoon comes from Jamaica.
Kiss Me Comix is having a sale on Barbara Jenkins’ Serenade this month.
Blogger Cheryl Lynn is looking for a few good women… black women cartoonists, that is. (Thanks to Pam for the link).
Finally, I think it’s finally safe for me to reveal this… When I first began Glyphs as an e-zine, it was my hope to have a print version to accompany the email newsletter version. Now that dream is very close to becoming a reality. A few months ago, I hooked up with a fella I met online named Ron King who had a very similar dream - of creating a black-themed comics magazine. And we’ve done it.
At the New York Comic-Con later this month, we will unveil UVC: The Urban Voice in Comics!
Details to follow later this week.
