I’m not doing a Top 10 list this year. The move to Ohio has meant me spending less on comics and more on silly little things like food. I will highlight some books that I genuinely enjoyed, though: Incognegro by Mat Johnson and Warren Pleece, which would’ve definitely ranked high on my list, Chiggers by Hope Larson, Water Baby by Ross Campbell, The Hole by Damian Duffy and John Jennings, and though I didn’t buy it (too expensive), I have no doubt that I would’ve loved Comic Book Tattoo by Tori Amos and a cast of thousands, based on what I saw of it. I’ve also enjoyed a number of online comics, including Clockwork Game by Jane Irwin and Bayou by Jeremy Love. So that’s as much of a top ten as you’re gonna get from me this year. Sorry.
A Martha Washington film looks like it could happen.
Valerie reflects on the original Cloak & Dagger mini-series in preparation for her own.
The new Brad Pitt movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is about a guy who ages backwards. One of the stars is Taraji P. Henson.

Hey, that’s pretty good for a non-Top 10 list! I’m not familiar with Chiggers or Clockwork Game, so I’m going to have to start reading. Hope you had a great holiday!

You’re new here, so you don’t know: top ten lists have been a kind of tradition for me dating back to 2000 (I used to have a column before the blog). For me to not have one this year is… significant, to me at least. But top ten lists, I find, are overrated. But I’m glad you liked my suggestions!

It took me a long time to complete my Martha Washington collection. I started late. So if the movie happens, that would be awesome.
