Millar has a knack for writing semi wierd dialogue which is apparent in the namor/sue storm conversation. I think some of the prisoners from the end (prodigy, janis jones, the shroud) would make interesting avengers. sadly, bendis is stuck on nostalgia, shits all over the 90s as if every story from that recent decade contained leprosy and has a tendency to write every character he doesn’t have a voice for like woody allen. I suspect half the time the dialogue is lifted right from a woody allen movie. people are amazed at how “fast” bendis work but when you stretch out dialogue to 3 times its normal size, use up page spaces in ridiculous, pointless ways(the collective) and retell classic 60s/70s stories with lame/predictable twists its easy to put out 100 comic issue on one series in 5 years. it doesn’t mean their worthwhile. oh and making aunt may bipolar is’nt characterization its over-dramatization. Its really telling of bendis that he is unable to make a character interesting unless she’s cartoonishly unbalanced. jms handled the id revealation more maturely with the adequate drama quotient maintained. bendis is best at marvel team up books wherein he has access to all his favorite characters which is likely why these stories are injected into every series he writes. millar’s spidey line comparing the punisher to cap seemed off considering his history with the two. as well is considering that several anti-regers are espionage experts i consider it wierd they would need the punisher. tigra as a spy. i think it would be obvious to everyone and the revelation did nothing for me. I also think the idea panther gets involved only cause a black man was killed and not because of the situational morality sends a bad message. he and ironman are my favorite avengers so I hate to see this, however i dolike all the ironman civilwar content i,ve read. character growth. wow. and bendis stating repulsor rays are outdated because a phone has a camera in it is unbelievably lame. that cellphone sure can incinerate people, make you impervious to a falling building, fly and let you survive in space.
