I’ve made no secret of my love for new media, new distribution, and new interactive techniques in entertainment utilizing the internet. Motion comics? Go! High-quality web-based webisodes? Go! Basically, anything that allows us, the filmmakers and viewership, to take control of our media and interact with it in ways that our grandparents never dreamed of – these things make me tingly.
Paramount Digital Entertainment is putting their whole foot in the water with the new interactive Circle of Ei8ht webisode series airing on MySpace on October 27th. Regardless the quality of the story itself, the ability to watch a short bursts of professional level scripted television, interact, then alter the outcome of the series is an interesting concept that I want to find out a lot more about. I’m already WAY into webisodes (if you guys want to recommend good ones, feel free), and this seems like a very natural evolution for a potential future on online interactive entertainment.
Either way, here’s the link about how you interact weekly with the show. Will this type of media replace your weekly Flash Forward or LOST fix? What do YOU think? I’m fascinated, but i’m a sucker for this stuff.
