Cheryl Lynn’s Ormes Society: a proposal

Posted by: Rich Watson on February 13, 2007 at 9:32 pm

“Black women are out there creating, but unlike our peers, we have the tendency to create in a vacuum. And while other creators use message boards and activist organizations to wisely network and receive emotional support, we post our thoughts and creations on individual websites and then wonder why various activist organizations don’t reflect our viewpoints or interests… The Ormes Society would be a bit of a stepping stone or gateway.”

Cheryl Lynn

I know I, for one, would like to know where the sisters are in comics. The few I know I tend to come across by chance rather than by reading about them on a website or something like that. A support group like the one CL is proposing could work wonders towards wider exposure. She already knows about some. I recommend anyone who knows of others should email her and let her know.

You and Cheryl have inspired me to once again find Elaine Oldham, who I’m delighted to see is still publishing.
