Bumpy Knuckles Pities The Fool

After posting about Freddie Foxxx vs Rakim, it occurred to me that some may not know who Foxxx, aka Bumpy Knuckles, is. So I started working on a little introduction to the man which I’ll be posting as soon as I get my mp3′s ready to attach for you.
(Sadly, I realize a lot of kids may not know who Rakim is either. Years ago when I was writing my review of the Paid in Full reissue, I recommended that you buy a copy of it and donate your original to an impressionable youngster who doesn’t know any better. But in 2007 I think the solution to kids not knowing Rakim may actually be what many have suggested in the wake of the Bumpy Knuckles beef — and that is for Ra to put out a goddamn album. And please make it good so we, your loyal supporters, can stop sounding like out-of-touch old men when we call you one of the greatest ever).
In the meantime, I happened to run across this music video by wrestler John Cena, who apparently aspires to be a rapper. Now, I don’t know much of anything Cena (or Trademarc, the dude doing the middle verse) but he has Bumpy doing what Bumpy does best — that is, the chorus and the third verse — so he obviously isn’t clueless about Who’s Who in rap. I mean, at least he doesn’t need to read somebody’s audioblog to find out who Freddie Foxxx is. Just saying.
This video is an A-Team parody, with Cena & Bumpy fittingly playing Hannibal & BA Baracus, plus Gary Colemon playing himself. All of which detracts greatly from actually listening to the lyrics (which is a good thing in Cena and Trademarc’s cases). Not saying Bumpy doesn’t come correct as always, but I certainly wouldn’t include the song as proof supporting Bumpy’s claim to the “King of the 3rd verse” throne. But it is an amusing vid.
