this poor bastard had some horrible fucking costumes in his career, didn’t he?

perfect fucking song. agree about the costumes. last one was okay. the buried as a giant thing is very symbolic, even if starks pissing all over his sacrifice the next day. millar made the character interesting for five second and then killed him. thats cheap. I would rather have the other three giants(wife-beater pym, atlas and cassie) die. I like them about as much as shit flavoured ice cream. he’ll be ressurected in three years or less unless joey q dies of heartattack(he’s fairly fat so it’s a 50/50 shot of happening). magneto can’t stay dead more than two months and we’ll eventually come to a point where logically he should of went by natural causes. hercules has had no relevance in marvel for the last couple decades and would only be missed by professional bitchers. Its not as if bendis has him joining the brand new retro avengers(bit of an oxymoron there). Unlike the falcon, robbie robertson, the prowler, storm, GW Bridge, brother voodoo, luke cage, triathalon and any other character i’ve missed, goliath wasn’t a stereotyped black character. He was, however, something half as sad; a knockoff of a more popular white character.considering who that character was it’s even sadder. At least nightthrasher, warmachine and patriot were modeled after popular character. I also believe that Photon was modeled after miss marvel but there so dissimilair I don’t count it. that video also made me realize how pathetic his final words were.

I felt like posting again to give the character the proper respect. marvel should release a goliath one shot. this, I think would be best telling a number of short stories around the character with various writers and artists. this, i feel, would give closure to the character and define him a little better so people can care more about his death. it would also negate the need for more stories via ressurection. sometimes death should matter.

To Raefe,

I overall agree with your posts though I don’t see how Robbie Robertson or Storm could be branded as “stereotypical” from Day 1. You are correct that a positive character like ill Foster could not break out because most writer dismissed him as a Black Hank Pym.

I say most because Reggie Hudlin did an excellent job in Black Panther #23 of highlighting how cool Foster was and giving real meaning to his death. After reading that issue, Foster’s passing didn’t feel like a mere gimmick. Still, a Goliath one-shot does sound like a good idea.

I will clarify. robbie robertson was established as having been involved in gang activity as a kid. this is directly related to the origin of spiderman villian tombstone. storm was depicted as an expert thief in cairo. now while this may be a bit of a stretch portraying any black character as a thug, thief or criminal could be seen as stereotyping. with robbie i felt it was more forced than storm. storms character was actually added to by being a thief.

also, i unfortunately didn’t read bp # 23 because as i’ve stated elsewhere I was initially turned off of hudlins writing. maybe he has grown since the early issues of black panther and i will be pleasently surprised when i try his work next. i may have been too critical of hudlin because priest had me holding the writing on panther to a very high standard. hudlin should be glad fans think that much of the character, however.

I was so looking forward to Bill Foster being a major player in the Marvel universe but it appears he had “The shortest come back in history”

R.I.P. Bill Foster a.k.a Black Goliath a.k.a Giantman, a.k.a Goliath a.k.a a hero

who would’ve rather seen giantman(hank pym) die instead. maybe retcon in that the wasp had abused him first and maybe add in parental abuse for extra overkill. then the wife-beating egomaniac who created one of the worst killing machines in history can be the victim.

I agree with Adan’s comment… those horrific costumes killed my man!!!

I’m sick of companies promising big events in these crossovers and then killing off minor characters like Elongated Man’s wife and Goliath!

We all know Cap’s coming back in some form or other soon. Will Goliath? (Other than some other gimmick)
