Barack Obama is a Comic Book Nerd

Evidence #1 that Democratic Presidential Nominee Barack Obama is a huge comic book nerd is, of course, that infamous picture of him standing in front of a Superman statue.
Evidence #2: During a recent roast, Obama poked fun at the picture, and himself, stating, “Contrary to the rumors you have heard, I was not born in a manger. I was actually born on Krypton and sent here by my father, Jor-el, to save the planet Earth.” Dude, that’s pretty specific.
Evidence #3: At a recent rally, Obama stated that:
“John McCain suggested that he would be the one to change George Bush’s policies,” Obama said, before adding that if that were to happen it’d be “like Dick Cheney attacking George Bush.”
“It’s like Robin getting mad at batman. John McCain hasn’t been a maverick. He’s been a sidekick when it comes to George Bush’s economic policies.”
So I think we’re really beginning to build a case here that Obama is, possibly, the most famous comic book fan in the world. Tell you what: if anyone can get him to guest on our live show, I will buy your comics for a year. No joke.

Obama is definitely a comic book nerd. There’s a great article on his childhood at The Guardian ( http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/oct/26/barackobama-uselections2008 ) that has an account of his aspirations of being a comic book artist.

Actually, Bill Clinton remarked (I think while touring Detroit, c. 1993-94) that, as a teen, he once took his trunk full of comics and set up a sidewalk stand, selling his collection.
Don’t know if he still reads them.
And I hold a silvercluster as a Seducer of the Innocent, as I recommended “Watchmen” to Senator McCain when he stopped by my bookstore (in the indigo neighborhood of Lincoln Center) to sign copies of his book, “Character is Destiny”.

Speaking of Barack Obama:
Barack Obama is a racial-minority individual, and in his heart and mind he inevitably does not endorse hate crimes committed by George W. Bush.
George W. Bush committed hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism (indicated in my blog).
George W. Bush did in fact commit innumerable hate crimes.
And I do solemnly swear by Almighty God that George W. Bush committed other hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism which I am not at liberty to mention.
Many people know what Bush did.
And many people will know what Bush did—even to the end of the world.
Bush was absolute evil.
Bush is now like a fugitive from justice.
Bush is a psychological prisoner.
Bush has a lot to worry about.
Bush can technically be prosecuted for hate crimes at any time.
In any case, Bush will go down in history in infamy.

I am not sure where I had read it before, but anyway, it is a linguistically excellent statement, and it goes kind of like this: “If only it were possible to ban invention that bottled up memories so they never got stale and faded.” Oh wait—off the top of my head—I think the quotation came from my Lower Merion High School yearbook.
