Avengers on Screen in 2012! Iron Man in 2010…

According to AICN and Geekstir.com, news from Marvel continues to flow as they’ve revealed tentative release dates for their upcoming films. Notably, Ant-Man and Brother Voodoo, both supposedly in the works, are absent.
Iron Man 2 is set for 5/7/2010
Spider-Man 4 opens 5/7/2011
Thor is set for 7/17/2011
The First Avenger: Captain America should see the light on 7/22/2011
The Avengers: 5/4/12
Interestingly, Iron Man 2 is being rolled out relatively quickly and appears to be the summer tent pole for 2010. 2011 seems to be a little crowded with Captain America, Spidey, and Thor competing for the summer prize. Marvel’s spacing out The Avengers for 2012, a long three years away considering the history of consumer cycles dictates people will likely suffer super hero fatigue by then.
Quiet as it’s kept…I know that *we* are. Let’s just hope that there are more hungry fans than weary ones.
We say bring back real sci-fi!

Marvel announced most of this back in September ’08.

The Spider-man 4 is news, Thor seems to have been pushed back a year, Capt America two months while Iron Man 2 is still on target with what they announced last year.
Odd that they didn’t give further clarification on the date for the previously announced Iron Man 3 though.
