I swear, the more I watch this trailer the more anxious I get..when will it be released? on Imbd it’s saying October 11th..but then I’m hearing 2008…what’s a girl to doooo?
Sorry, be patient! Good things come to those who wait, Belle!
Seriously, the short will be available in ‘08. Keep checking this site. We appreciate your support!
I have been waiting too! I thought it was coming out in 2007. Essh! I’m glad to know that it will be released soon! ^^
Patience is a virtue Sarah. (at least that’s what I keep telling myself!)
Finally. It’s about time someone tells a true story about human nature and the sexual attraction of two people. I applaud the director and producers for bringing thse type of relationships to the forefront. We need more of this.
Thanks Dee. But it’s not JUST a sexual attraction between them (though that’s there too). they connect on so many other levels over musical tastes, food, etc.
The porn industry serves up plenty of interracial sex. AHHS is (and wants very much to be) a love story.
best,
Joe
This looks like a real cool joint, and since James Kyson Lee is well known from Heroes it might bring attention to this film. But for a Chinese guy his Japanese is pretty authentic.
One thing though the official trailer is so choppy, but the behind the scenes stuff plays with no problem or choppyness. Went to Youtube to see the official trailer.
Thanks, D. James is actually Korean.
Sorry about any choppyness on the media. We’re still working out some kinks. And it depends on your computer and connection speed as well.
Okay… Oh my gosh I am … you… you just don’t understand! I’m speechless (quickly overcame that affliction as you are about to see) and spreading the word to all I know. As a woman who was born from a Black Woman and Japanese Man (even tho I know sexxy James Kyson Lee is Korean hehe) I am VERY excited about this movie. In college, I got my degree majoring in Psychology and minoring in Human Sexuality Studies and one of my interests were intraminority relationships in particular Black Women and Asian Men. Considering individually both groups have an outmarry rate far less than their counterparts and speaking from personal experience this subject has lead me to doing research (and coming up with bupkus in terms of academic research). Honestly, this is the first film in America that I’ve seen with a story like this in it’s exact context. I mean there been others but it’s usually the interracial couple involving an BW/AM is relegated to platonic relations. Someday if you are ever interested I would love to pick your brain about this project as well as send you a copy of a paper I once did on this subject titled: Stereotypes and Asian Male/Black Female Sexual Relationships:
The Case of Small Penis Meets Strong Black Woman.
Yea I know interesting title it’s meant to be ‘provocative’. And My focus isn’t solely on sexuality but it was for a sex class lol.
Sayonara!
Domo arigato gozaimasu Joe-san!
Cool, thanks Autumn! I’d love to read your paper. You can e-mail me at joe@akirashiphopshop.com
Keep spreading the word
oh don’t worry I am! I’ve told my parents about this and my friends. And some of my friends are just as excited about this movie as I am hehehe
Can’t wait for it to come out!
I don’t live in LA!
Do you know if you are going to release a DVD? I love it just by watching the trailer! Good job!
Thanks Kim. Keep checking the site for when we might release the DVD! Also sign up for the newsletter for updates.
This is exciting to see.My husband is Chinese and I’m Afro-Jamaican. I’ve dated Korean and Chinese guys in the past, as well as African (Nigerian) men. Its nice to see this (a Black woman and an Asian male romance) represenation on film. People are people and simply fall in love. I look forward to its release.
Wow, Ade! Thanks for kind words. Hopefully you’ll get your chance to see it in ‘08!
I just stumbled across this and it really caught my interest. Its different from the other movies that are out in the fact that it touches upon subjects that others are afraid of. I’m very excited to see the whole movie. I hope its released soon.
Keep checking the site for updates Sable. AKIRA will be coming your way soon!
Looks hot. Can’t wait to see it. Any chance you guys are doing a screening somewhere in the midwest anytime soon?
Danielle,
We were just in Michigan! We may be there again June 23-29. Keep checking the site’s screenings page and sign up for the newsletter. Thanks for your interest.
