“Akira’s Hip Hop Shop” is written and directed by Joe Doughrity.

The DVD, containing the 37 minute Director’s Cut of the short film,
contains bonus features retails for $9.95 plus shipping and handling.

This is the first time the extended, Directors Guild of America student award winning cut of the film is being made available. A shorter, 22 minute cut, was previously streamed on the internet for a limited time as part of the Con-Can Film Festival in Japan.

“Akira’s Hip Hop Shop is a short film that leaves the viewer longing
for more. James Kyson Lee gives a performance that is subtle, yet
smolders with a sexy sensitivity not on display in television’s
Heroes. The lovely Emayatzy E. Corinealdi portrays a vulnerable young
woman who is certain of her dreams. Even if she isn’t sure with whom
she’d like to share them with. She has a charming, spunky style that
the director captures well. The chemistry between the two main
characters in undeniable and immediately draws the viewer into the
story.”
