PAFF postscript

Well the PAFF wrapped up today with the awards brunch being held at the PAFF bistro inside the Baldwin Hills shopping mall. Ralph came along with me and we nibbled and mingled. Robert Townsend and Kimberly Elise were among the notables.

But the “reel stars” if you will, were the filmmakers themselves! While we were among the nominees for Best Short, AHHS alas came away empty handed. We were thrilled to be among the 163 chosen out of 2,500 and 1 of only 8 shorts in competition.

I was happy to see Cordially Invited directed by Michael Fouther with producing help from his wife Lesa walk away with an Honorable Mention in the all important Audience Award category. AHHS’s own Emayatzy Corinealdi is one of the stars in their ensemble wedding pic.

The Pan African Film Fest was a wonderful event. I look forward to attending future fests and hopefully submitting more films.

Akira’s Hip Hop Shop was a very well-acted, well-produced short and we can’t wait to see the whole production when it comes back around. Thanks for setting the tone before our film “Walking Tall: The Life and Wife of Walt Walker.

I enjoyed the film so much I had to navigate here in order to see the trailer again. I loved the passion. the newcomer actress, (the man who played) Akira himself and all the elements in the film.

Let me know how you progress! I am writing my next film now…a narrative as you suggested. Take care! IPL

“Walking Tall: The Life and Wife of Walt Walker” is a fabulous film about a Los Angeles legend (who just so happens to be from my own hometown of Detroit).
