Well, The Battle of Thermopylae is a historical event, and to say "who cares" is a little immature. It serves as the inspiration for the story, and without it, there wouldn't be a story.

But I think evorgleb fails to understand Miller's intent when he did 300. It was meant to be a stylized interpretation of the historical event. Miller used extreme visuals to represent ideals, not to be historically accurate in every detail.

As for calling it a poor man's Gladiator, 300 the comic was published 2 years before Gladiator even came out. And when it comes to the main actors getting in shape for the action scenes, you can tell Gerard Butler (and several others) put in far more work than Russell Crowe did just by looking at him.

Quote from your review: "Though this movie is based off of the Battle of Thermopylae"

What the heck is the Battle of Thermopylae? Who the heck cares? This is a fantasy movie, and contains the best action scenes to date. For anyone who cares less of the background, will love this movie.

I think you need to stop reviewing movies

300 is getting more good press than it deserves. I just did a review of 300 over at Highbrid Nation is you care to read it. In the end it was just another movie that did not live up to the hype to me. Can we say "poor man's Gladiator"? Most people will likely disagree with me though, lol
